the Judge shall assess the who}{\fs24\lang2057\langfe5129\langnp2057\insrsid863060\charrsid14700972 le amount of the damages (if any}{\fs24\lang2057\langfe5129\langnp2057\insrsid11827352\charrsid14700972 ) in one sum, but a separate decision shall be given for decision is given against the defendants in more than one of the actio ns so consolidated, the Judge shall proceed to apportion the amount of damages so found between and against those defendants; and the Judge at the trial, if he awards to the plaintiff the costs of the action, shall thereupon make such order as he deems ju st for the apportionment of those costs between and against those
