PARLIAMENT (MEMBERS’ EXPENSES AND ALLOWANCES) (AMENDMENT)
ACT NO. 2 OF 2020

An Act to amend the Parliament (Members’ Expenses and Allowances) Act
[CAP 109].

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows-

1. Amendment

The Parliament (Members’ Expenses and Allowances) Act [CAP 109] is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2. Commencement

This Act commences on the day it is published in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENTS OF PARLIAMENT (MEMBERS’ EXPENSES AND ALLOWANCES)
ACT [CAP 109]

1. After Section 3

Insert

“3A Responsibility allowance

(1) A Member of Parliament is entitled to be paid in arrears his or her responsibility allowances from the date on which he or she is elected.

(2) To avoid doubt, the date on which the Member of Parliament is elected is the polling day for the relevant election.”
