Commencement: 18 August 1997

POLICE (GRATUITY)

Order 36 of 1997

To prescribe the rate for payment of gratuity in relation to a permanent disablement attributable to a wound, injury or sickness contracted by a member in such circumstances as are specified in section 32A of the Police Act [Cap. 105].

1. Rate for payment of gratuity
(1) Where, as a direct consequence of any wound, injury or sickness received or contracted by a member in the circumstances specified in section 32A of the Police Act [Cap. 105], the member is compulsorily retired from the Force, the member shall be entitled to a gratuity payable at the rate of one and one half month’s salary for every completed year, calculated at pro rata for any incomplete year, that the member was employed by the Force.

For the avoidance of doubt –

“Force” means the Vanuatu Police Force;

“member” means a member of the Vanuatu Police Force.
