Fisheries (Ban on Coconut Crabs)

FISHERIES (BAN ON COCONUT CRABS)


Order 15 of 2004


1. Ban on taking, etc. coconut crabs for 3 years
(1) A person must not take, kill, injure or have in his or her possession any coconut crab during the period starting on 1 May 2004 and ending on 31st March 2007 in Santo / Malo Local Government Region.


(2) Subclause (1) applies despite the quota for the coconut crabs that may be taken and the close season mentioned under the Fisheries (Coconut Crabs) Regulations (Order 13 of 1991).


2. Offence for taking, etc. coconut crabs during 3 year period
If a person contravenes section 1(1), the person is guilty of an offence and is punishable on conviction by a fine not exceeding VT 100,000.
