PROTECTION OF GOVERNMENT PROPERTY


To provide for the prevention of damage to and interference with Government property.


INTERPRETATION


  1. For the purposes of this Act, and without prejudice to the generality of its meaning, the expression "Government property" -

(a) shall include all boundary or survey markers, posts, pegs, flags or signs, all traffic signs or notices, and all other equipment or property owned by or on behalf of the Government, or placed or affixed in any place by any officer, servant or agent of the Government in pursuance of or in connection with the official business of the Government;


(b) shall be deemed to include all materials and equipment whatsoever used in the operation of authorised public services and utilities.


OFFENCES


  1. Any person who shall wilfully and unlawfully damage, destroy, deface, mutilate, remove or in any way interfere with any Government property shall commit an offence punishable upon conviction by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 1 year or by a fine not exceeding VT100,000 or by both such fine and imprisonment.
