ARRANGEMENT OF SECTION

Amendment of Commencement Clause.


Organic Law on Provincial Governments and Local-level Governments (Amendment No. 5) Law,

Being a Law to amend the Organic Law on Provincial Governments and Local-level Governments,

MADE by the National Parliament.

AMENDMENT OF COMMENCEMENT CLAUSE.

The Commencement Clause of the Organic Law on Provincial Governments and Local-level Governments is amended by repealing Paragraph (b) and replacing it with the following:-

"(b) in so far as relating to Bougainville Province - on 1 January 1999.".

I hereby certify that the above is a fair print of the Organic Law on Provincial Governments and Local-level Governments (Amendment No. 5) Law which has been made by the National Parliament.

Constitution

CERTIFICATE UNDER SECTION 14.

I, JOHN PUNDARI, Speaker of the National Parliament, hereby certify that the requirements of Section 14(1), (2) and (3) of the Constitution were complied with in respect of the Organic Law on Provincial Governments and Local-level Governments (Amendment No.5) Law and that the law was made by the National Parliament as follows:-

(a) the first vote was taken on 2 October 1997 when the number of seats in the National Parliament was 109 and those voting for the proposal were 83 and none voted against the proposal; and
(b) the second vote was taken on 9 December 1997 when the number of seats in the National Parliament was 109 and those voting for the proposal were 75 and those voting against the proposal were 19.
