AN ACT

entitled

Migration (Amendment) Act 1996,

Being an Act to amend the Migration Act (Chapter 16),

MADE by the National Parliament to come into operation in accordance with a notice in the National Gazette by the Head of State, acting with, and in accordance with, the advice of the Minister.

1. REPEAL AND REPLACEMENT OF SECTION 3.

Section 3 of the Principal Act is repealed and is replaced with the following:-

"3. PROHIBITION ON ENTRY WITHOUT ENTRY PERMIT.
No person, other than a citizen. shall enter the country unless -

• (a) he is the holder of an entry permit: or
• (b) he is a person, or a member of a class or description of persons, exempted by the Minister under Section 20 from the requirement to hold an entry permit.".

2. OFFENCES (AMENDMENT OF SECTION 16).

Section 16(1) of the Principal Act is amended in the Penalty Clause by repealing the amount "K1,000.00" and replacing it with the following:-

"K5,000.00".

3. REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT OF SECTION 23).

Section 23(d) of the Principal Act is amended by repealing the amount "K l.000.00" and replacing it with the following:-

"K5,000.00".
