Animals (Amendment) Regulations 2008[1]
1 These regulations were published in Gazette No. 2 of 2009 on 7 January 2009 (GN No.4/2009) and commenced on 7 January 2009.
In exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 18 and 20 of the Animals Act 1982 and all other powers in this regard, Cabinet hereby makes the following regulations –
1. SHORT TITLE
These Regulations may be cited as the Animals (Amendment) Regulations 2008.
2. INTERPRETATION
In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires –
"the Act" means the Animals Act 1982;
3. PURPOSE
The purpose of these Regulations is to amend the Animals Regulations 2000 to remove the requirement for an import licence for live animals.
4. AMENDMENT OF ANIMALS REGULATIONS 2000
(1) Regulation 3. of the Animals Regulations 2000 is hereby repealed and replaced with the following:
"3. The application of section 11 of the Act is hereby extended to all animals."
(2) Regulation 4. of the Animals Regulations 2000 and Schedule 1 to the Animals Regulations 2000 are hereby repealed and replaced with the following:
"4. Pursuant to subsection 4(2) of the Act, the fee payable for a licence for keeping a dog is $50.00."
