SUPPLY BILL

OBJECTS AND REASONS

Where the proposed appropriation law for a financial year has not been certified no later than 21 days prior to the commencement of the financial year a supply law may be passed to allow the continued provision of services of the Republic for the first quarter of that financial year or until the sooner certification of the proposed appropriation law. This is such a Bill.

The Bill seeks to authorise withdrawal from the Treasury Fund and expenditure on the services of Nauru of the amount of $7,455,800.00 being the amount estimated as required to maintain the services of the Republic at their existing level for the first quarter of the 1977/1978 financial year. The Bill, if passed, will only have effect for that quarter or until the sooner certification of the proposed appropriation law.

The provision sought to be made is not additional to the provision to be made by the appropriation law when passed

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the attached document is a fair print of an Act entitled Supply Act, that has been, made ,by Parliament and is now presented to the Speaker for his Certificate Under Article, 47 of the Constitution.

Pursuant to Article 35 (3) and 47 of the Constitution, I DAVID PETER GADAROA Speaker of Parliament, HEREBY CERTIFY that the Supply Act, 1977, a copy of which is attached has, been passed by Parliament.
Clerk of Parliament
