LICENCES ORDINANCE (AMENDMENT) ACT 1978
(NO. 12 OF 1978)
AN ACT
To delete the Schedule to the Licences Ordnance l922-1967 and replace it with a new Schedule as to provide for increased licence fees to be payable.

AN ACT
To delete the Schedule to the Licences Ordinance 1922-1967 and replace it with a new Schedule so as to provide for increased licence fees to be payable.

Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:
SHORT TITLES
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Licences Ordinance (Amendment) Act 1978.
(b) The Licences Ordinance 1962-1967 as amended by this Act may be cited as the Licences Act 1922-1978.
COMMENCEMENT
2. This Act shall come into force on a date to be notified by the Cabinet in the Gazette.
AMENDMENT OF LICENCES ORDINANCE 1962-1967
3. (1) The Licences Ordinance 1922-1967 is amended by deleting the Schedule thereto and replacing such Schedule as specified in the Schedule to this Act.

SCHEDULE
The Schedule to the Licences Ordinance 1922-1967 is replaced by the following –
SCHEDULE
| 1. | Trading licence | |
| | (a) main store, or store having no branches | $100.00 yearly $50.00 half-yearly |
| | (b) branch store, that is the branch of a store for which the full licence fee has been paid | $50.00 yearly $25.00 half-yearly |
| 2. | Licence to import explosives | $50,00 |
| 3. | Owning or being in possession of | |
| | (a) a male dog – for each dog | $10.00 |
| | (b) a female dog | $10.00 |
OBJECTS AND REASONS
The licence fees specified in the Schedule to this Bill were fixed in 1955 and it is now appropriate to increase them.
In 1967 the Licences Ordinance 1922-1955 was amended merely by deleting liquor licence fees provided for by the Liquor Ordinance 1967 and remaining fees were not increased.
This Bill does not create any new categories of licence fees.
