To amend the Insurance Act, 1974

AN ACT
To amend the Insurance Act 1974
(Certified: 18 October, 1974)
Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:–
SHORT TITLE AND COMMENCEMENT
1. This Act may be cited as the Insurance (Amendment) Act 1974 and shall come into force on the same date as the principal Act.
INTERPRETATION
2. In this Act "the principal Act" means the Insurance Act 1974.
AMENDMENT OF SECTION 37 OF THE PRINCIPAL ACT
3. Section 37 of the principal Act is amended -
(a) by deleting from subsection (2) thereof the words, figures and punctuation "until 1st September, 1974" and by inserting therein in lieu thereof the words, figures and punctuation "until 1st November, 1974"; and
(b) by deleting subsection (4) thereof and inserting in lieu of that subsection the following new subsection (4) –
"(4) Every licence granted under the provisions of subsection (5) of section 5 of the Corporation Act 1972 to carry on in Nauru the business of insurance shall be deemed to be or, as the case may be, to have been granted subject to a condition of compliance with the provisions of this Act."
