Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Family Court (Amendment) Act 2020.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on 15 November 2020.

3 Amendment of the Family Court Act 1973

The Family Court Act 1973 is amended by the provisions of this Act.

4 Amendment of Section 2

Section 2 is amended by:

Deleting

‘the Clerk’ means the Clerk of the District Court as the Clerk of the Family Court;

Substituting

‘Deputy Registrar’ means the Deputy Registrar of the District Court, who shall also be the Deputy Registrar of the Family Court;

5 General amendment

The Act is amended by deleting the word ‘Clerk’ wherever it appears and substituting with the words ‘Deputy Registrar’.
