DECREE NO. 24

GRANT OF IMMUNITY FROM CRIMINAL PROSECUTIONS AND CIVIL PROCEEDINGS TO POLITICAL OFFENDERS AND ESCAPED PRISONERS DECREE 1988 (AMENDMENT) (NO. 1) DECREE

IN exercise of the powers conferred upon me under section 25 of the Head of State and Executive Authority of Fiji Decree 1988, I as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of Fiji, hereby make the following decree-

Short title

1. This Decree may he cited as the Grant of Immunity from Criminal Prosecutions and Civil Proceedings to Political Offenders and Escaped Prisoners Decree 1988 (Amendment) (No. 1) Decree.

Amendment to meaning of ‘political offenders’

2. Section 2 of the Grant of Immunity from Criminal Prosecutions and Civil Proceedings to Political Offenders and Escaped Prisoners Decree 1988 shall be amended by inserting the words ‘or convicted’ immediately after the word ‘charged’ and immediately before the word ‘for’ in the first line of the definition of ‘political offenders’.

Amendment to Schedule 1

3. Schedule 1 to the Grant of Immunity from Criminal Prosecutions and Civil Proceedings to Political Offenders and Escaped Prisoners Decree 1988 is here by amended by the addition of the following names:
