AN ACT

TO AMEND THE EDUCATION ACT

ENACTED by the Parliament of the Fiji Islands -

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Education (Amendment) Act 1998.

Membership of Education Forum

2. Section 7(1) of the Education Act (Cap 262) is amended by deleting everything after "consist of" and substituting -

"(a) the Permanent Secretary;

(b) the Deputy Secretaries;

(c) a representative from the Fiji Teachers' Union;

(d) a representative from the Fijian Teachers' Association;

(e) the President of the Fiji Principals' Association;

(f) 10 representatives of the controlling authorities of registered or recognised schools; and

(g) not less than 6 nor more than 10 individuals appointed by the Minister from the community at large to provide a wide range of representative views on educational matters.".

Passed by the Senate this 9th September 1998.
