AN ACT


TO AMEND THE ELECTORAL ACT 1998


ENACTED by the Parliament of the Fiji Islands-


Short title and definition


1.-(1) This Act may be cited as the Electoral (Amendment) Act 1998.


(2) In this Act ‘principal Act’ means the Electoral Act 1998 (No. 18 of 1958).


Living in constituency


2. Section 10 of the principal Act is amended by adding the following new subsections-


“(4) A qualified person who is not entitled to be enrolled for a constituency of a particular type under subsection (1), (2) or (3) is entitled to be enrolled as a voter for the constituency of that type in which he or she has his or her place of living at the date of enrolment.


(5) If a qualified person is entitled under subsection (1) to be enrolled as a voter for a constituency of a particular type by virtue of having lived for at least 3 months in a place, he or she must also be enrolled as a voter for the constituency of the other type in which that place is located.”.
