SCOUT ASSOCIATION


Ordinances Nos. 37 of 1928, 2 of 1945,

AN ACT RELATING TO THE SCOUT ASSOCIATION


[23rd November, 1928.]


Short title


1. This Act may be cited as the Scouts Association Act.


Interpretation


2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires—


"Association" means the Scout Association formerly known as the Boy Scouts Association incorporated under the Royal Charter granted on the 4th day of January, 1912;


"scout" means a scout recognised as such under the constitution, by-laws or rules of the Association and includes also all officers of the Association. (Amended by 15 of 1970, s. 4.)


Restriction on use of uniform, etc., of the Scout Association


3. It shall not be lawful for any person not being under the by-laws or rules of the Association duly authorised and entitled so to do publicly to wear, carry or bear any uniform, badge, token or emblem which under the said by-laws or rules are specifically adopted for use under the authority of the Association in such style or manner as to convey an impression that such person is under the said by-laws or rules entitled so to wear, carry or bear such uniform, badge, token or emblem.


No person falsely to claim connexion with Scout Association


4. It shall not be lawful for any person to form, organize or work in connexion with, or be concerned in forming, organizing or in work in connexion with, any corps or body which, without due authority granted under the Royal Charter of the Association, claims or purports to be scouts or otherwise to be connected with the Association, or which holds itself out as or passes itself off as scouts or as otherwise connected with the Association.


Penalties


5. Any person contravening any of the provisions of this Act shall be liable to a fine not exceeding twenty dollars or to imprisonment for any period not exceeding one month or both.
